SANSONE
WEB DESIGN
Sansone is a close friend, peer, and fellow creative. He's a Chicago native and Christian Hip-Hop artist with a mind-blowing story to tell. You've just got to meet him, he's one of those people. We attended college together in the Music Business program and grew both a friendship and working relationship. I was honored when we asked me to design his new website. His goals are to establish a stronger digital presence, foster community for listeners, and develop merchandise.
SCOPE
Sansone and his creative team wanted this site to be effective, yet minimal. Every design choice made here was carefully considered by his team and myself to align with his brand with growth in mind. We wanted it clean, neat, bold, and easy to use. He expressed wanting the ability to sell merchandise and concert tickets, both of which are essential for artists. Our constant thoughts during this project were "is this in alignment with the vision?" and "how will the end user feel when they interact with this?"
DESIGN
- Color Palette: We kept it simple. His looks may change in shoots, so a simple black, white, and grey neutral allows for whatever visuals on camera to pop. He's also not a flashy artist - Sansone is simple and to the point. This color palette reflects that.
- Typography: It was clear that we wanted bold and authoritative, as he's making a statement. You'd truly have to hear his story (which is carefully woven into his music) to understand why it just makes sense. The heavy sans-serif is masculine, clean, and sharp.
- Elements: I wanted to go for a rectangular look all across this website - nothing round. The inner inspiration was Polaroid. Though nothing throughout the design lends itself directly to photography, I kept thinking of how Polaroid captures moments and experiences - it's also iconic. Sansone is an artist who seeks to create memorable experiences in his music, as he tends to get reflective on his past throughout his work. Every element is bold, rectangular, and sharp on purpose.
