DYMOND'S DIARY

WEB DESIGN

Dymond was my first referral years ago from another client - we have a longstanding relationship and she has allowed me in on her vision since she first began as a Lifestyle Influencer. Based of out Atlanta, GA, Dymond is a Lifestyle influencer who focuses on personal growth, fashion, and travel.
SCOPE
Dymond is growing as an influencer, and since she's graduated from college we wanted a much more refined blog that can grow with her as her content continues to grow. It was also necessary to improve functionality with this site so that her subscribers could easily access her vlogs directly from her website into YouTube. With 3 years into blogging, there was a major content overhaul - her new blog has a robust CMS feature that allowed us to import while enhancing user experience with functionality in the dynamic blog layout.
DESIGN
  • Color Palette: Previously Pink was overstated, I added a deep black to balance that out especially for eyes of the viewers. Dymond's audience is Female, and her favorite color is pink. There was no need to change that but there was a need to add a dark neutral for balance of the soft and bubblegum pinks
  • Typography: It's important to keep fonts minimal on websites, especially content heavy sites. I chose a simple Helvetica and made sure to vary it up size, boldness, and color throughout the site. No need to strain the viewers eyes.
  • Development & Functionality: Blogs can be overwhelming - I'm a minimalist at heart but I knew this needed to be appealing and functional. Rather than crowding the homepage with posts, I parked them by category for a cleaner interface for the viewer once they enter the homepage. I also love how her readers can go directly what they're looking for, but still catch a glimpse of other category posts with the "recent post" widget that appears on every blog page.

The most important feature on her blog was the ability for Vlogs to be slightly previewed and linked to YouTube without videos cluttering the page or the content system. I went for a cinematic feel to direct her subscribers from her homepage.
